The beautiful lakeside city of Lugano is ready to amaze you with spectacular views. Being right next to Italy, it is reminiscent of Italian culture with a dash Mediterranean climate, if a bit colder. This Italian speaking city is filled to the brim with marvelous architecture, and a laid-back attitude permeates this calm region. How can people not be calm here? Just a glance at the Lugano lake is therapeutic enough, but I’ll throw in a barbecue boat ride in just to sweeten the deal.
Isn’t Lugano Expensive?
Not every price tag is a good indicator of value, but this slice of heaven is worth the expense that is the hallmark of the Swiss experience. You should set your budget to about 2,000$ for a 7-day trip for one person. Account for more if you come with family.
What are Some of the Best Lugano Attractions to Visit?
1. Lake Lugano
Among all the attractions in Lugano, this is the cherry on top, and it was once named for the cherry trees crowing this jewel. As stated before, a boating trip across this wondrous lake will be the healing adventure you need for a relaxing vacation. Spanning for over 50 square kilometers in size, this long-running lake fills the valley between the mountains, hills, and peaks. You owe it to yourself to try out at least one of the many varieties of boating and cruising excursions available to you there to take in the sights from multiple angles.
2. Monte San Salvatore
This green mountain offers breathtaking views from all directions at its summit, be they the distant city lights at night or the majestic alps through the morning clouds. You can either take the cable car, which takes about 15 minutes to ascend, or you can take the adventurous approach and hike through the lush vegetation.
3. Paragliding Tandem Flights
As if the heights weren’t enough, you can go even further up in the sky for a bird’s eye view. If you ever wanted to glide over a majestic lake from 1400 meters high in the sky, now you can.
4. Countless Architectural Creations Within the City
Lugano history is rich and owns a great cultural heritage value. Its prosperous history dates back to the pre-historic era and the Roman expansion to the Duke of Milan and the formation of Switzerland. The city has many historical landmarks and artistic architecture for you to feast your eyes on. This place has finally found its calling like a beacon of tourism in the region. Losing yourself in the deep culture of the streets of Lugano doesn’t sound half bad.
Food and Cuisine
During my last trip here, I was blown away by the high quality of the locally made food and seasoned food. In particular, I really enjoyed the food delivered from Subway Lugano here I could choose all the fresh ingredients myself. Very tasty and highly recommended.
