How to Make Candles Using a Candle Making Kit

 Floating candles are a beautiful addition to any home, and they make great gifts too! While they may seem like they require a lot of precision and skill to make, with our beginner’s guide, you’ll be churning out floating candles like a pro in no time.

What You’ll Need

The great thing about floating candles is that you don’t need a lot of materials to get started. In fact, all you really need is a candle-making kit, which you can purchase online or at your local craft store. A typical candle-making kit will come with everything you need to get started, including wax, wicks, dyes, and molds.

The first step is to melt the wax. You can do this either in a double boiler or in the microwave. If you’re using the microwave, be sure to do it in short bursts so that the wax doesn’t overheat and become unusable. Once the wax is melted, add your desired colorant and stir until combined.

Next, it’s time to prepare your molds. If you’re using silicone molds, simply place them on a baking sheet for stability. If you’re using plastic or metal molds, you’ll need to coat them with cooking spray first so that the wax doesn’t stick. Once your molds are ready, slowly pour the wax into each one, being careful not to overfill. Leave about ½ inch of space at the top of each mold so that the wax has room to expand as it hardens.

Finally, place your wicks into each mold and let the candles harden for at least 24 hours before removing them from the molds. Trim the wicks to ¼ inch before lighting, and enjoy your beautiful new candles!

With just a few supplies and some simple instructions, anyone can make beautiful floating candles at home! So gather up your materials and give it a try – we think you’ll be surprised at how easy and fun it is!

What You’ll Need:

* 1/2 cup of beeswax

* 1/4 cup of coconut oil

* A double boiler (or a makeshift one using a heat-safe bowl nested in a pot of simmering water)

* Candle wicks

* Essential oils (optional)

Instructions:

1. Place the beeswax and coconut oil in the top of the double boiler, or in the heat-safe bowl. Melt the wax over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it is completely melted.

2. Remove the wax from the heat and add a few drops of essential oil, if desired. Stir to combine.

3. Place the wicks in the bottom of whatever containers you’ll be using for your candles. We like to use small mason jars, but you can use teacups, wine glasses, or any other pretty vessel you have on hand.

4. Carefully pour the melted wax into the containers, filling them to just below the rim. Allow the wax to cool and harden completely before trimming the wicks and lighting your candles. Enjoy!
